I'm Darcy. This is my reflective blog.
My name is Darcy and I am currently in my second year of a Bachelor of Primary Education at ACU Brisbane. I love using physical activity as a tool for team building, inclusion and nurturing confidence in young people. Because of this, I am striving to become a Physical Education specialist when I graduate.
This site is a digital space for me to blog personal thoughts and reflections on particular elements of teaching and education. Reflective practice is important for pre-service teachers as they help bridge the gap between theories and learned experiences (Yee et al., 2022). Digitising my reflections allows for peer feedback, deepening ideas and aiding my professional development for a career in education (Yee et al., 2022).
Following Gibb’s Reflective Cycle, my reflections will consider two key driving questions. Firstly, what is the impact rapid technological development has had upon classrooms for both teachers and students? Secondly, how has digital dependency increased privacy and misinformation risk to myself and others in a learning environment? As a student at ACU, I adhere to standards of academic integrity that ensure I properly acknowledge ideas, data and conclusions I have extracted from research to support my own work (Australian Catholic University, 2024).
